Second- ranked Concordia women’s basketball took on the Dordt Defenders inside Walz Arena on Senior Day and won 90-55.

In a game where all 15 Bulldogs played no less than 11 minutes and no more than 16 minutes, junior guard Brenleigh Daum led the way with 14 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the 3-point line.

The Bulldogs honored six seniors including forwards Aubri Bro, Erin Vieselmeyer and Carissa Gutz and guards Devin Edwards, Shelby Quinn and Laurel Krohn. In the fourth quarter, coach Drew Olson intentionally put the six seniors in the game and received a technical foul for having too many players on the court.

“It was a good way to go out for this senior group…they deserved it,” Alexis Akin-Otiko, graduate assistant coach, said about the seniors. “They were my first group of seniors coaching here and I would not ask for any other group. They are not just good basketball players, but they are amazing women of God.”

The win also led the Bulldogs to continue their perfect season playing in Walz Arena.

The Bulldogs have a few days of downtime before they compete in the first round of the conference tournament, taking on eighth-seeded Midland University inside Walz Arena. Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.

“Looking forward to the next game, Coach Olson will draw up the game plan, and the girls will continue to focus and work hard to be prepared for Midland,” Akin-Otiko said.
