The basketball season is officially underway, and the Concordia Men’s program has started the year 3-0. The Bulldogs began their season with a 75-72 road victory over Kansas Wesleyan with the leadership of sophomore Jake Hornick who poured in 23 points in the contest.
Hornick brought the momentum back with him and the team to the Cattle Classic on Nov. 3-4 in Walz Arena for two more Bulldog victories. On Friday, Concordia played conference foe Mount Mercy. After a one point first half lead, the Bulldogs came out in the second half and outscored the Lancers 54-38 for a 96-81 victory. A sophomore quartet led the team in scoring. Hornick tallied 18, Clay Reimers tallied 25, Tanner Shuck added 14 and Brevin Sloup chipped in eight.
A quick turnaround had the Bulldogs playing Saturday against Evangel University, who traveled from Springfield, MO. The Bulldogs played a tight game but came out victorious 75-69. Hornick, Reimers, and Shuck were the only Bulldogs who scored in double digits for the contest. Hornick and Reimers earned All-Tournament accolades from the weekend.
Moving forward, the Bulldogs will travel south to Kansas to take on KCAC schools Sterling College and Tabor College on Nov. 10 and 11.
