Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic year, the 125th academic year in the history of Concordia University, Nebraska.
Our academic year theme is from Colossians 2:6-7, English Standard Version: “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
As the year begins, I pray that you will “walk in Jesus” and throughout the year be rooted and built up in Him who loves you deeply, passionately and without question. I also pray that you will find time to pause from your daily activities and duties to be thankful for all Jesus has done and does for you day after day.
The summer was filled with activity. As you arrive on campus, you will notice progress on the construction of Dunklau Center for Science, Math and Business; renovation of the Student Health Center in Janzow Campus Center; updated flooring and fixtures in the Janzow dining hall; and the placement of pole banners celebrating our 125th anniversary and the Promises of a Lutheran Education. You will also note the faces of a bumper crop of new students and more than a dozen new faculty and staff and learn the good news of the reaccreditation of the university by the Higher Learning Commission. It has been a busy and productive summer.
The projects completed and new ministry partners welcomed to campus increase our ability to serve you, our wonderful students, more effectively. They enable us to deliver the Promises of a Lutheran Education in which community, inquiry, purpose and wisdom are delivered by people highly invested in your success as a student and committed to providing you an excellent academic education so you are equipped to serve and lead in God’s church and world!
As this historic academic year begins, seize every opportunity to participate in this marvelous community with its many and varied members! Enjoy the special events planned for the celebration of our 125th anniversary. Allow God’s grace to nourish your faith, increase your joy, and fill you with thanksgiving. I am thrilled to have you on campus and look forward to a wonderful year of walking in Him and with you.
