Home Sports Women’s Basketball Ties for Longest Win Streak in NAIA Division II

by Chris Johnstone

The second-ranked Concordia women’s basketball team continued its 20-game win streak with a 90-60 victory over Morningside on Saturday afternoon at home.

The Bulldogs’ winning streak is tied for the longest winning streak in NAIA Division II. The streak comes from their effort on the defensive end. Concordia is ranked second in the nation in steals and ninth in turnover margin per game.

Five Bulldogs scored in double figures, and every player on Concordia’s roster checked into the game. Junior guard Mary Janovich led the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points on 6-7 shooting from the field and four assists.

Freshman Philly Lammers also added 14 points and nine rebounds. Senior forward Erin Vieselmeyer and junior guard Sydney Feller both came off the bench and scored 12 points.

The Bulldogs have a few days of downtime before they continue conference play as they take on Hastings College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25 inside Walz Arena.

The Bulldogs are also preparing to host the annual Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT), which begins on Friday. The Concordia Bulldogs Women’s team play their first round game against the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on Friday night in Walz Arena.
