On Oct. 14, Director of Student Development Rebekah Freed addressed the entire student body to notify Concordia of the multiple tire slashing incidents and thefts from unlocked vehicles on the university’s campus. Items such as wallets and cash were taken from the vehicles.

The Seward Police Department and Concordia Security Department have been able to identify all of the individuals responsible after about a week and a half. Currently all stolen items are trying to be found and returned to the victims.

Four individual local teenagers were responsible for the crimes; none of them were affiliated with Concordia. These individuals have been cited by the Seward Police for criminal mischief and theft.

Video surveillance caught the four teens breaking into the cars. Outside of the tire slashing, the individuals didn’t cause any break-ins through windows or picked locks.

Students are reminded to always lock their doors and never keep anything of high relevance in their vehicles.
