The Concordia Bulldogs fell short to the No. Bellevue Bruins 0-1 on Sept. 10 in a very calculated and tactical match.

Both squads were locked in a battle during the first half, with neither scoring a goal. The Bulldogs committed an early foul that allowed a free kick for the Bruins. However, an offside stopped that Bruin attack. Shots from Concordia’s Connor Robinsion, who missed right, and Hugo Garrote, blocked, were followed by a trading of fouls by both teams. At the half, Concordia led the shot column seven to four. Both teams were deadlocked at 0-0.

At the 46-minute mark in the second half, former Bulldog Okan Erkocu put the Bruins up 1-0 with his first goal of the year off a corner kick.

Goalkeeper Iñigo Chavarria Beunartea made a couple of big saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game.

Hugo Garrote and Niko Nareike both got yellow cards, as did two Bellevue players. Concordia piled on the pressure in the waning stages of the game, but eight straight shots did not fall for the dogs.

The Bruins are 5-1-1 and will play Briar Cliff on September 13. The Bulldogs fall to 1-5 and will be back home on September 17 to take on York University.
