By Jonah Lange

The Concordia cross country team began their season with strong finishes in their first two meets. The team has exhibited new talent in freshmen Wyatt Lehr and Abi Deloach along with the continued success of seniors Taylor Grove and Josiah McAllister.

The season began on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the Augustana University Twilight meet. The men’s team finished 16th of 23 teams, and the women’s team finished 12th of 25 teams.

Individually, freshman Wyatt Lehr got his college career off on the right foot, placing 92nd of 266 with a time of 23:39.85. Likewise, on the women’s side, Grove continued her successful college career, finishing 47th of 277 with a time of 19:23.57. Also in the top 100 for the women was Deloach, finishing 84th with a time of 20:01.54.

The Bulldogs continued their start on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Hastings College Bronco Stampede. The men’s team won the event, with McAllister and Lehr leading the pack, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. The women’s team finished second of six teams with Grove and Deloach taking the lead at fourth and fifth, and the rest of the team all finishing in the top 15.

Their success so far has been greatly reflective of their focus for the team. Grove and Lehr both said they do their best to help their teams succeed.

The team will look to continue achieving this goal at the Doane University Dean White Invite on Sept. 22.
