Home Sports Concordia Qualifies 10 Track and Field Athletes for Nationals

The 2016 indoor track and field season has officially begun as the Concordia Bulldogs took part in the Scott Nisely Invite at Doane College on Jan. 16.

The Bulldogs had 10 different athletes post automatic national qualifying marks in the opening meet of the year.

Concordia had seven first-place medalists from both the men’s and women’s sides of events. Kali Robb in the weight throw, CJ Muller in the 200 and 600 meter races, Jose Rojas in the shot put, Cody Boellstorff in the weight throw and shot put and the men’s 4×800 meter relay team won.

A slew of other Bulldogs posted top five finishes in their respective events on the day.

The following Bulldogs posted automatic national qualifying marks:

  • Stephanie Coley (shot put – 46’ 6 ¾”)
  • McKenzie Gravo (pole vault – 11’ 9”)
  • Samantha Liermann (shot put – 46’)
  • Cynthia Mick (pole vault – 11’ 2 ½”)
  • Kali Robb (shot put – 46’ 1 ¼”, weight throw – 55’ 11 ¼”)
  • Kim Wood (600 meters – 1:35.50)
  • Cody Boellstorff (weight throw – 59’ 8 ¼”)
  • Philip Kreutzer (weight throw – 55’ 8 ½”)
  • CJ Muller (600 meters – 1:21.83)
  • Jose Rojas (shot put – 52’ 2”, weight throw – 56’ 11 ¼”)
  • Lucas Wiechman (pole vault – 16’ ¾”)

Concordia’s next meet will be the Prairie Wolf Invite at the Devaney Center in Lincoln on Jan. 22.
