Concordia Nebraska men’s basketball entered the 2019 Concordia Invitational Tournament with hope of defending their current title as the CIT men’s basketball championships. However, their opening game against the Concordia University–Wisconsin Falcons ended with the Bulldogs looking forward to Saturday’s consolation game.

Starters for the game were junior guard Brevin Sloup, freshman guard Carter Kent (#5), junior guard/forward Tanner Shuck (#21), freshman guard Justin Wiersema (#10), and junior forward Chuol Biel (#30).

The Bulldogs kept just ahead of the Falcons throughout the first half, even getting as far ahead as 21-14 during the first half.

The Falcons came back just before end of the half to take the lead, ending the half with score of CUW 43, CUNE 42.

Despite their performance in the first half, the Bulldogs struggled during the second half and falling further behind throughout the rest of the game.

The game ended with the Falcons winning 86-70 and advancing to the championships for the second year in a row.

Sloup led scoring with a game total of 24 points. Wiersema and Shuck were also lead scorers, each scoring 10 points.

The Bulldogs will advance the consolation game on Saturday, Jan. 26 1:30 p.m. CST / 2:30 p.m. EST against the Concordia University–Chicago Cougars.
