The Concordia Bulldog men’s and women’s basketball teams both played Wednesday night against the Hastings College Broncos. The women emerged victorious with a final score of 73-62 and the men crushed the Broncos 80-42.

The women got the night started with a 21-16 lead after the first quarter. The Broncos bounced back in the second quarter to tie things up 33-33 going into the half. Concordia pulled away in the third quarter, leading 55-40. The women held off Hastings for another win.

Sophomore Abby Krieser led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points. Sophomore Taysha Rushton had a hot night shooting, going 4-5 from three and finishing with 12 points. All of the Bulldogs were involved in the scoring, however, with the team assisting on 21 of the 28 made baskets.

The men started hot and stayed hot throughout the game with a 38-15 lead at the half. However, the Bulldogs did not step off the gas pedal and cruised to the victory behind a great effort from Sophomore Noah Schutte. Schutte dropped 23 points on his birthday to go along with five rebounds. Sophomore Bradley Bennett had a team-high eight rebounds as well to assist in the victory.

The women are now 13-7 overall and an impressive 11-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The men are 12-9 overall and 8-7 in the GPAC. Both teams will look to ride this momentum into the Concordia Invitational Tournament this weekend.
