The No. 21 Concordia Bulldogs women’s soccer team improved to 6-1 after picking up a pair of wins on its road trip to Colorado this past weekend.

Concordia’s first game was against Sterling College, Kansas, on Saturday, Sept. 19. The Bulldogs struck twice late in the first half.

Sophomore Esther Soenksen netted the first goal of the game. Shortly after, sophomore Jessica Skerston added another to widen the lead 2-0.

Sterling scored in the last minute of the match, but the Bulldogs held on for the 2-1 win.

The Bulldogs had a quick turnaround as they took on Johnson & Wales University, Colorado, the next day.

After a quiet beginning to the game, freshman Maddie Otten struck the back of the net just before halftime to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Early in the second half, the Bulldogs increased their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Skerston.

Skerston scored another goal in the last few minutes to put the game out of reach and give the Bulldogs a 3-0 win over the Wildcats.

Concordia will continue its road trip as the team travels to Orange City, Iowa, to take on Northwestern College to open conference play. Game time is set for 5 p.m. on Sept. 26.
