Women’s Golf
The women’s golf team was in contention for a team title after the first round at the York Invite but settled for second after a subpar second day.
The Bulldogs shot 338 in the first round and 442 in the second. They were beaten out by Park, Missouri, but defeated all of the Great Plains Athletic Conference teams in attendance.
Senior Emery Custer placed second, shooting 163 (82-81), continuing her streak of top placements. Sophomore Savannah McFalls moved up the Concordia and overall ranks with a third overall finish. McFalls shot 165 (82-83). Freshman Olivia James rounded out the Concordia top three and nearly earned a top 10 spot. James’s 175 (87-88) was enough for 11th place.
The women’s golf team has its last event of the season on Oct. 6 and 7. The women will travel to Fremont, Nebraska, for the Nebraska Intercollegiate.
Powerlifting
Five Concordia athletes broke program records at the opening meet of the powerlifting season. The meet, which took place in Walz Fieldhouse on Oct. 4, featured competitors from Concordia, Midland, and the University of Nebraska Kearney.
Junior Leo Guiza (110kg) set the school record for dots score, which is a number that factors in all three lifts and weight class. His dots score was 447.96. Guiza also set individual lift records. Bench (272.5kg), deadlift (302.5kg) and total (750kg).
Junior Teya Badger (100kg) set records in squat (195kg), bench (95kg) and total (470kg).
Junior Rylee Bentz (65kg) broke the squat (142.5kg), bench (95kg), deadlift (155kg) and total (392.5kg).
Sophomore Wyatt Hosick (67.5kg) set a record in deadlift (220kg) and total (537.5kg)
Junior Abigail Lockingen (82.5kg) set three records. Squat (137.5kg), bench (75kg) and total (3353kg).
The Bulldog powerlifters have over a month to prepare for their next competition on Nov. 22. Concordia will travel to Fremont, Nebraska, for the Central Collegiate Cup Series.
