The second-ranked Concordia women’s basketball team took on the Hastings Broncos inside Walz Arena on Wednesday night and won 68-47 after only having a one-point lead at the half and secured the record for the longest win streak in NAIA Division II history.

Freshman forward Philomena Lammers once again dominated with 23 points and 14 rebounds in 30 minutes of action. The Bulldogs forced 26 turnovers from the Broncos and shot just under 46 percent from the field to secure the win.

With the conference victory over Hastings, the Bulldogs extend their win streak to 21, the longest in NAIA Division II.

“It was something the team needed and it gave us all confidence in ourselves throughout the game,” said Omaha native Lammers. “We were all persistent and unrelenting in our pursuit of that game, which I feel like played a huge role.”

Junior guard Mary Janovich contributed 10 points, while senior guard Shelby Quinn and junior guard Dani Andersen both had eight.

The Bulldogs now shift their focus to the 66th annual Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT), as they take on Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday, Jan. 27 inside Walz Arena. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

“I’m just so excited for CIT all around,” said Lammers. “Everyone says it is such a great experience and like nothing else. I can’t wait to be in and experience that atmosphere for myself.”
