Home Sports Wrestling Competes at Dakota Wesleyan and Morningside

Concordia University wrestling won one of two duals at The Arena Sports Academy on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Concordia managed to defeat Dakota Wesleyan University 32-13, however, the Bulldogs would lose to Morningside 27-9. Concordia moves to an overall record of 1-2. 

Highlights of the Dakota Wesleyan dual came from senior Mario Ybarra and freshman Jeaven Scidoris. Ybarra managed to win his match in sudden victory overtime 3-1. Scidoris pulled a big win for the Bulldogs as he tech fell his opponent 21-6. The rest of the wins for Concordia came via forfeit from Dakota Wesleyan. 

Sophomores Jacob Telles and TJ Huber were the lone victors for the Bulldogs against Morningside. Telles won his match via pin in the second period. As for Huber, he was down 4-2 at the end of the second period. He would fight back and win his match 7-5 in sudden victory over time. Ybarra would lose 3-1 to 14th ranked Taylor Vasquez. Ybarra beat Vasquez earlier in the year. Six Bulldogs lost by no more than two points. 

The Bulldog’s next matchup will be Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Doane University Open. That tournament will begin at 9 a.m. in Crete.
