Home Sports Boellstorff Highlights Day One at Husker Invite

The fourth-ranked women’s and fifth-ranked men’s track teams had seven athletes take part in day one of the Husker Invite in Lincoln on Friday, Feb. 5.

The highlight of the day was junior Cody Boellstorff winning the weight throw and shattering the school record, which he set last week with a throw of 65’ 11 ½”. Boellstorff won the weight throw with a throw of 68’ 4 ½”, which bested second place by 3’ 5 ¾”. Junior Zach Lurz also competed in the weight throw and claimed sixth place with a personal best throw of 61’ 9”.

Concordia had three throwers on the women’s side compete as well. Junior Kali Robb led the way for the women throwers with a throw of 59’ 7 ¾”, which landed a sixth-place finish. Seniors Stephanie Coley and Kattie Cleveland finished in 11th and 18th places with throws of 55’ 9” and 51’ 9 ¾” respectively.

The Bulldogs also had two runners compete. Junior CJ Muller ran in the 400-meter run and sophomore Emily Sievert competed in the 5000-meter run. Muller ran the 400-meter race in a time of 49.43, which is under the national qualifying mark. Sievert finished in ninth place with a time of 18:13.37.

Both men’s and women’s teams will be in action on Feb. 6 at the Husker Invite in Lincoln and the Fred Beile Classic in Crete.
