The No. 12 Concordia women’s basketball team pulled a quick turnaround victory over Grace University on Thursday, Feb. 4. The entire Bulldog team contributed to the 85-50 victory with 13 players in the scorebook and four with double figure scoring.

“It was nice to see a lot of players get minutes yesterday and play well,” said coach Drew Olson. “It hopefully gave a lot of them confidence.”

Despite an 11-15 first quarter score, the Bulldogs got hot during the second quarter and entered into halftime with a 39-27 lead. Sophomore Jade Gottier helped to create the large 20-point lead for the Bulldogs with back-to-back 3-pointers. Sophomore Sydney Feller also connected on two quick 3-pointers. With a 29-point third quarter, the Bulldogs headed into the final quarter with a 68-42 lead. The balanced scoring attack continued for Concordia, and the Bulldogs finished off the victory in a quick fashion.

Freshman Quinn Wragge led the team with 12 points, juniors Aubri Bro and Erin Vieselmeyer each scored 11 points and Gottier added another 10 to the point total. The Bulldogs connected on 10 3-pointers throughout the game. The Bulldogs record is now 19-6 for the season.

A matchup of ranked GPAC rivals will take place Saturday, Feb. 6 in Iowa as Concordia travels to take on the No. 2 Morningside Mustangs.

“The Morningside is a great team, they are going to be tough to beat,” Olson said. “We have to defend and make shots [which is] easier said than done.”
