Bulldog track and field members earn 15 podium finishes at Prairie Wolf Invitational

The majority of the Bulldog track and field team competed at the Prairie Wolf Invitational this Saturday while some members competed at the Drake University Relays and the University of Kansas Rock Chalk Classic.

The team achieved 15 podium finishes with three gold, five silver, and seven bronze medals.
Starting off with the women’s events was sophomore Cambria Saunders taking third place with 12.60 in the 100-meter dash. Junior Kayla Svoboda followed her up with a second-place finish with 14.76 in the 100 meters hurdles.
Sophomore Tayden Kirchner second at just under a minute with 59.99 in the 400 meter dash.
The women’s 4×100 relay got second place with Saunders starting off the sprint followed by freshman Kennedee Canales, freshman Coral Collins, and sophomore Kiki Nyanok.
In the field event portion, junior Hayley Miles jumped 5.38 meters in the long jump to take first place. Miles also decided to get first in the triple jump at 10.94 meters. Freshman Jaelynne Kosmos got third place in the event with a distance of 10.40 meters.
Freshman Easton Fries kicked off the men’s events’ podium finishes with a third place in the 110m hurdles with the time of 14.89.
Sophomore Trey Robertson ran for second in the 1500 meter run with 4.01.79. Junior Trevor Kuncl was seconds behind in third at 4.03.77.
Senior Austen Rozelle threw 46.60 meters to take third in the discus. Senior Connor Asche got third place in the shot put with 15.49m.
Juniors Mayson Ostermeyer and Evan Hill achieved first and second in the pole vault with 4.70 meters and 4.55 meters cleared respectively.
Sophomore Aaron Spivey got third place with 13.53 meters in the triple jump to finish off the meet.
The team’s next meet is the two-day Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships in Hastings, Nebraska, starting on May 2 at 9 a.m.
