The Bulldog volleyball team hosted Ave Maria University in the Bulldogs first-ever playoff home game.  The Bulldogs beat the Gyrenes 3-0 to advance to the second round of the NAIA playoffs.

The Bulldogs struck early winning the first set 25-12.  The Gyrenes came back in the second set, but couldn’t finish it out as the Bulldogs took the second set 25-23.  Finally, in the 3rd set, the Bulldogs put the nail in the coffin winning 25-19.

Senior Tara Callahan helped the Bulldog offense create points as she recorded 27 assists.  Freshman Bree Burtwistle also helped out in the assists category by recording 17 herself.  Freshman Carly Rodaway and junior Arleigh Costello led the way for the Bulldogs by recording 11 kills each.

Concordia took advantage of Ave Maria’s errors and turned them into points.  They also stayed away from errors themselves as the Bulldogs won the error battle 15-21.

The Bulldogs are now 16-11 and will play Oregon Tech for their first game of pool play.  The game will be at Sioux City, Iowa on Nov. 30 with the game starting at 3:00 p.m.  After that, they will play Viterbo University on Dec. 1 in Sioux City, Iowa with the game starting at 10:30 a.m.
