Bulldogs continue winning streak at York Invitational

The Concordia Women’s Golf team gained their second win of the season and their second win in a row Tuesday afternoon at the York Women’s Fall Invitational at York Country Club. The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 676, which was enough to edge out the win by one stroke. 

The highest placer for the Bulldogs was graduate student Maddie Lewis, who shot a score of 166 through the two rounds (83-83), and she finished the tournament placing second. Lewis stayed consistent throughout both rounds, helping lead the Bulldogs to another team victory. 

The Bulldogs had an overall dominant performance as they had three finishers in the top five and five in the top 10. They filled up the slots of second and T3 with Lewis in second and freshman Mia Ochsner in T3 alongside junior Savannah McFalls. The other top 10 finishers were sophomore Olivia James (T6) and sophomore Amelia Ptacnik (8th).

The Bulldogs finished just one stroke better overall than Great Plains Athletic Conference foe, College of Saint Mary, after coming from one stroke behind in round one.

With another tournament win now under their belt, the Bulldogs have some time until their next tournament, but will look to continue their recent success as they head to Cairo, Nebraska, and the Centura Hills Golf Club on Oct. 5 for the Nebraska Intercollegiate Tournament. Concordia will look to carry the momentum from its back-to-back wins into the next tournament as the season continues.
