In a closely contested matchup on Wednesday, the Concordia women’s soccer team and the Mount Marty Lancers played to a 0-0 draw in Great Plains Athletic Conference action. Concordia held a 20-4 advantage in total shots but neither side was able to find the back of the net.

Concordia focused on maintaining structure in its defensive third, limiting Mount Marty’s chances, while the Lancers stayed organized and made it challenging for the Bulldogs to create clear scoring opportunities.

Goalkeepers Grady Smith and Aliya Vidro split time for the Bulldogs, each playing 45 minutes. Both made key saves to preserve the shutout and keep the Lancers scoreless.

Head coach Nick Smith highlighted the team’s defensive effort as an important part of the result.

“We made sure to stay strong defensively, really relying on our mentality and grit,” Smith said. “I also want to give credit to Mount Marty—they were very organized and made it a real challenge.”

Smith also noted the team’s ability to respond in key moments.

“Our players showed a real willingness to step up, and I thought we responded well in those critical situations,” Smith said.

With the draw, Concordia improves to 7-0-4 overall and 2-0-2 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. They will aim to maintain their momentum when they travel to face Morningside on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m.
