Home Sports Bulldogs Fall in Close Battle Against Tigers

It was a back-and-forth game between Concordia and the Doane College Tigers on Tuesday night, Nov. 22. The lead changed seven times throughout the game and the teams tied twice. The Bulldogs lost in a narrow 80-77 after their defense was unable to put a stop to Doane’s three-pointers. The Tigers shot 50 percent from the three-point line while the Bulldogs shot at 46.5 percent .

The Bulldogs battled throughout the game closing the score with 11 seconds to go. Senior guard Eli Ziegler made a three-point attempt but was blocked by Doane’s Rylee Zimmerman.

Despite the result, three Bulldog freshmen stepped up off the bench. Guard-forward Tanner Shuck led the freshman class with 13 points, guard Jake Hornick followed with 11 and forward Clay Reimers scored six points. Senior Chandler Folkerts led the Bulldogs with 22 points total, and Ziegler came up with 13 points.   

After the loss on Tuesday, the Bulldogs dropped to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in the GPAC. Concordia will take a break from conference games and travel to Maryville, Missouri, to play Division II Northwest Missouri State. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
