Home Sports Concordia Baseball Blasts Past Missouri Valley College

Monday afternoon the Concordia baseball team used an offensive flurry to defeat Missouri Valley College 18-8.

The Bulldogs (7-10) were led by senior Alex Alstott, who went 2-for-2 including a home run.

Concordia trailed 5-1 entering the bottom half of the third inning, but rattled off back-to-back five run innings to take a 10-6 lead. The Bulldogs added back-to-back three runs innings to gain a commanding 17-8 lead. In what turned out to be the final inning of the day, the Bulldogs got another run in the bottom of the seventh to win by the 10-run rule.

Freshman Jared Schipper turned in a good outing by relieving starter junior Josh Prater. Schipper went 4.2 innings and gave up three runs on four hits. Prater picked up the win by going 2.1 innings, allowing five runs on six hits.

The Bulldogs will have another game on March 8 when Concordia takes on the University of Winnipeg at 5 p.m. CDT.
