by Garrett Suchanek

The Concordia softball team started its spring break Arizona trip off with five straight wins to improve to 8-2 on the year.

The Bulldogs kicked off their road trip with a pair of games on Sunday, March 6 against Aquinas College and had no issue dismantling the Saints in a 12-1 rout in the first game. In game two, the Bulldogs had a tighter game. Concordia had to use a walk-off RBI from sophomore Autumn Owens to earn a 5-4 victory over University of Michigan-Dearborn.

On Monday the Bulldogs hit the field again for three games. In the first game of the day, Concordia squared off against Great Falls (Montana). The Bulldogs held a 6-4 lead going into the sixth inning, but gave up five runs. In the bottom half of the inning, Concordia plated four runs, followed by a scoreless inning in the seventh to claim a 10-9 win.

In game two against Siena Heights (Michigan), the Bulldogs won 9-4.

Concordia finished the day off with a competitive game against Ashford (Iowa). The Bulldogs trailed 1-0 after the second inning, but plated three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to claim a 3-1 win.

Concordia will take the field again on March 9 for a pair of games against Purdue North Central (Indiana) and St. Francis (Illinois).
