Home Sports Concordia Dominates the Fred Beile Classic with 13 Meet Winners

Concordia track and field traveled to Doane University on Saturday and walked away from the Fred Beile Classic with 14 event wins and 13 meet winners. Sophomore Jenna Esch won the women’s 400-meter dash and the women’s 800-meter run with times of 59.39 (400) and 2:24.40 (800).

Freshman Hannah Beintema captured the win in the women’s 1000-meter run with a time of 3:12.99. Junior Rylee Haecker won the women’s one mile run for the second week in a row with a time of 5:09.13. Junior Kylahn Freiberg, who ran a time of 10:29.8, won the women’s 3000-meter run. Junior Lauren Dawson won the women’s 5000-meter run with a time of 22:57.94.

In the women’s 60-meter hurdles senior Rachel Battershell and freshmen Adrianna Rodenchal finished first and second respectively. Battershell finished with a time of 8.94 and Rodencal came second with a time of 8.96. Concordia freshmen Josi Noble was the winner of the women’s triple jump with a jump of 35’ 4”. In the women’s high jump junior Amy Richert won with a jump of 5’ 4.5”.

Junior Josie Puelz and senior Erin Mapson battled for first place for the second week in a row in the women’s pole vault. Puelz came away the winner with a vault of 12’ 4.5’. Mapson finished second with a vault of 12’ 0.5”.

Junior Joel Rathe won the men’s long jump with a jump measuring 22’ 8”. The men’s one mile run went to junior Calvin Rohde, who finished in 4:16.10. Junior Micah Willweber won the men’s 1000 meter run with a time of 2:41.9.

The men’s pole vault team dominated the competition, taking the top four places. Senior Zach Bennetts vaulted 15’ 11” to win the men’s pole vault. Junior Zach Zohner came second with a vault of 15’ 7”. Third place went to junior Chase Berry, and freshmen Mayson Ostermeyer took fourth place.

The Bulldogs will host the Concordia University Classic Friday, Feb. 3, in the Walz Fieldhouse. Concordia will also participate in the UNL Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational taking place Friday and Saturday.
