The Concordia Bulldogs football team finished out their season with a 17-7 win against the Hastings College Broncos in Saturday’s game.

In the first quarter, Hastings’ Kody Brandenburg intercepted a pass from Concordia’s Quarterback DJ McGarvie in the first few minutes of the game. Concordia’s Carson Core then intercepted a pass from Hastings’ Quarterback John Zamora.

At the beginning of the second quarter, Concordia’s Jorge Ochoa intercepted another pass from Zamora. Later in that drive, Bulldog Running back Jonah Weyland scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown. After five more unsuccessful drives, the first half ended with a 7-0 Concordia lead.

The third quarter went much the same as the second quarter as neither offense could gain much ground. Early in the third, Concordia’s Daniel Cantu attempted a 36-yard field goal but was blocked by Hastings’ Beasley Ihegworo. Later in the quarter, Cantu successfully made a 24-yard field goal making the score 10-0.

Early in the fourth quarter, Bulldogs Wide Receiver Art Anderson scored a touchdown from a 7-yard pass from McGarvie. Six minutes later, Hastings narrowly avoided a shut-out by scoring a touchdown of their own with a 4-yard pass from Zamora to Will Austin.

Concordia ends their season 7-3 overall and in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
