The Concordia Bulldog football team secured a hard-fought victory against the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers on Saturday, edging them out 24-21 in Mitchell, South Dakota, to stop a two-game skid and get its first away victory of the year.

Behind the lead of junior quarterback Camden Jensen, the Bulldog offense was able to stay steady all game and outscore the opponent. Although the offense was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, Concordia’s defense was in control of the game.

The defense got its moment on the scoreboard in the third quarter when sophomore Jett Farwell picked off the Tiger quarterback, Jed Jenson, and took it 79 yards to the house for a touchdown.

In his second start of the season, Jensen shined,  throwing for 140 yards to go along with two touchdown passes. He found graduate students Adam Van Cleave and Maddox Rickertsen for those touchdowns. Van Cleave led the charge offensively for the Bulldogs as he had 11 catches for 76 yards.

The Concordia defense was showing off their talent as they picked off the Tigers twice and had five sacks.

The Tigers outmatched Concordia in total yardage, but the Bulldog defense got the stops when they needed, and the offense capitalized on their big drives.

Concordia has advanced to 3-3 on the season and will have next week off to prepare for its Oct. 24 clash against the No. 7 Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City, Iowa.
