The Concordia men’s soccer team found a way to win 1-0 in the first round of the GPAC tournament over three-seeded Northwestern College on Tuesday night.

The sixth-seeded Bulldogs had to travel to Northwestern College for their opening round game and came out on top with a goal by senior Sean Doran.

After an intense first half in which both teams had their fair share of chances to score, both teams went into the half scoreless.

In the second half, both teams got off multiple shots again, but only Concordia found success.

In the 74th minute, Doran found the back of the net off an assist by sophomore Lewis Rathbone.

Concordia and Northwestern had comparable stats shooting as the Bulldogs shot 12 times and put seven on frame, while the Red Raiders shot 11 times and put four on frame.

Concordia’s goalie, Mark Horsburgh, finished the night with four saves and a shutout.

The Bulldogs will hit the road again for a semifinal matchup with two-seeded Midland in Fremont on Saturday, Nov. 7.
