Distance Not a Factor For Bulldog Basketball Fans at CIT

Both men’s and women’s Bulldog basketball teams claimed their 26th Concordia Invitational Tournament championship titles Jan. 29-30 at Concordia University Chicago. Both Bulldog wins were against the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons.
Despite the distance from Seward to Chicago, Bulldog fans packed Chicago’s Geiseman Memorial Gymnasium, and a back-and-forth cheering rivalry continued throughout both games.
“The atmosphere was crazy,” junior Paul Nelson said. “It was very tense, especially in the last game considering how close it was.”
After the final buzzer of the men’s game, the student section ran onto the court to congratulate the team.
“I liked it when we all ran down because it was kind of unifying—the fact that we were all together,” freshman Rori Boberg said.
Those who were unable to make it to Chicago watched from the Dog House Grill, where over 40 students came to support the teams.
In 2017, the Concordia Invitational Tournament will be hosted in Seward.
