The match between the Concordia Bulldogs and the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves ended in a 2-2 draw Monday, Sept. 19.

Junior Micah Lehenbauer tallied both goals for the Bulldogs with first goal coming in the 49th minute and the second shortly after in the 53rd minute. The Prairie Wolves scored the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute. Their second, which tied the game, came from a free kick right outside the penalty box in the 76th minute.

A total of seven yellow cards and two red cards were issued in the duration of the game. Once Concordia and Nebraska Wesleyan were down to 10 men each, the game was taken into overtime. Neither team was able to get the third goal and settled for the 2-2 tie.

Concordia outshot Wesleyan 21-10. Sophomore Tyler Jensen and junior Lewis Rathbone each marked up 4 shots apiece. Lehenbauer topped the Bulldogs with 5 shots, 4 on goal.

“I think we gave 100 percent, that’s all I can ask from the guys,” coach Jason Weides said.

Over the course of the past six games, the Bulldogs’ newfound backline consisting of juniors Toby Down, Florian Caraballo and Luke Batters, sophomore Aries Fung and led by senior goalkeeper Mark Horsburgh have only allowed opponents to score three goals. Before Monday night, the Bulldogs had gone 388 minutes without being scored on.

The Bulldogs, now 3-1-2, will enter conference play in Bulldog Stadium at 3:30 p.m on Saturday, Sept. 24 against Northwestern (2-6, 0-0 GPAC).
