The Concordia men’s soccer team defeated Dordt University on Wednesday evening. A dominant first half carried the Bulldogs to a 2-0 victory.

In the first half, junior Carter Hinman came out hot and scored in the fifth minute, giving Concordia an early lead they never lost. Junior Jarrod Henson assisted the goal. The game was relatively quiet with a few shots attempted by the Bulldogs, but no goal. That changed when senior Victor Meneses scored a header off of a brilliant pass by Henson for his second assist of the night.

The second half saw the talents of the Concordia defense on full display. As Dordt stepped up the pressure, the Bulldogs held firm and kept the shutout intact. A couple of close calls were calmly saved by sophomore Nolan Fuelberth, who had three saves on the night. Fellow sophomore Adrian Wambua also had an outstanding save in the late stages as he slid in front of the goal to prevent an easy score for Dordt that could have changed the momentum.

Coming into the week, Concordia entered the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics top 25 coaches’ poll. This win brings the Bulldogs’ overall record to 8-0 and 2-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. They will travel to Orange City, Iowa on Sept. 23 to play Northwestern College. The game kicks off at 1 p.m.
