The Concordia men’s soccer team swept the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The undefeated Bulldogs will maintain their record going into October and the last six regular games of the season. The 2022 Great Plains Athletic Conference champions hope to extend their dominance in the November GPAC tournament.

The first half was a back and forth physical game between the Tigers and the Bulldogs. Concordia had five shots on goal and Dakota Wesleyan had six. There were also six yellow cards given out in that half alone. However, the game remained scoreless.

The Bulldogs came out fired up for the second half and put constant pressure on the Tigers. The attacks finally paid off when junior Carter Hinman made a goal in 62nd minute to put Concordia in the lead. The offensive drives were so overwhelming that Dakota Wesleyan was unable to attempt a single shot, while Concordia kicked 15 of them.

Concordia outshot Dakota Wesleyan 20-6 with Hinman leading the team with four shots. Senior Martin Herrera and junior D’Andre Williams were the only other Bulldogs to have multiple shots, with two apiece. Junior goalie Gabriel Mendoza recorded two saves for the game.

The Bulldogs improved to a 10-0-1 overall record and a 4-0-1 record in the GPAC. The next game will be on Oct. 4 against Morningside University in Bulldog Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
