Home Sports No. 8 Concordia Wrestling Opens GPAC Victorious

Tuesday night, the No. 8 Concordia wrestling team won a pair of duals against Dakota Wesleyan and No. 12 Midland in Fremont. The two wins continue the Bulldogs’ streak of nine straight GPAC dual wins dating back to last year and the wins improve this year’s record to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in GPAC.

In Concordia’s first dual, the Bulldogs dismantled Dakota Wesleyan as Concordia blanked the Tigers 49-0.

The Bulldogs won by pin fall four times, decision three times and picked up a pair of forfeits against the Tigers.

In the second dual of the night for Concordia, the Bulldogs faced a top-15 team in the Midland Warriors.

Concordia ended up taking care of business on its way to a 33-10 victory.

In the victory, the Bulldogs picked up a pair of pin falls, three major decisions and two wins by decisions.

The Bulldogs were highlighted by impressive matches by junior Tommy Bailey, who recorded a pin and major decision, junior Ken Burkhardt Jr., who picked up a pin and win by decision, junior Ceron Francisco, who won by a pin fall and decision, sophomore Andrew Schulte, who picked up a pair of pin falls and junior Jr. Lule, who won by a major decision and technical fall.

Concordia’s next varsity action will be on Saturday, Nov. 21 when the Bulldogs travel to Kearney for the UNK Holiday Inn Open.
