If you missed Concordia Nebraska athletics this week, here’s what happened:

Junior Emery Custer claimed fifth place while the women’s golf team placed seventh overall at the Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s golf championships. The three-round tournament was played at the Centura Hills Golf Course in Cairo, Nebraska. Par for each round was 72.

Custer was consistent throughout her three rounds, shooting 80, 77, and 79 for a total score of 236, just three strokes off second place.

Junior Maddie Lewis was the next-best Bulldog golfer. Lewis came in 27th place with round totals of 83, 83, and 87 for a 253 total.

Freshman Savannah McFalls was right behind, tied for 28th. McFalls shot 84, 85, and 85 for a 254 total.

Those three, plus senior Jennifer Gillotti (261), combined for a total score of 1004, good enough for seventh place and just one off of sixth place, College of Saint Mary.

The softball team had its season ended after back-to-back losses in the GPAC tournament. They were defeated 6-1 by the fifth seed, Dakota Wesleyan, and 6-0 by No. 1 Northwestern.

The Bulldogs played good defense for the majority of the game against Dakota Wesleyan but fell victim to a four-run third inning after getting two early outs.

Senior Aubrey Bruning got the lone run for the Bulldogs after hitting a single in the sixth inning and then advancing the rest of the way through a combination of errors and steals.

Senior Megan Eurich had the bulk of the pitches in the first game. In 5.1 innings, she gave up six runs on seven hits, walked one, and struck out four. Sophomore Kaylei Denison pitched the last 0.2 innings.

In the same theme as the first game, the Bulldogs played a mostly good defense against Northwestern but gave up three runs in both the third and fourth innings, leading to the 6-0 final score.

While the zero runs suggest poor hitting, it wasn’t total domination from the Northwestern pitcher. The Bulldogs got five hits on the day and were walked once, but they weren’t able to produce enough in an inning to get any runners home.

Denison pitched 3.2 innings, in which she gave up six runs on six hits, walked two and struck out two. Eurich pitched the remaining 2.1 innings and struck out two while allowing two hits.
