by Garrett Suchanek

The Concordia men’s soccer team’s big second half got them a 3-0 victory over Morningside College (Iowa) on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The win moved to the Bulldogs to 6-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in GPAC.

After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders in the second half.

Concordia broke the tie with a goal by junior Julian Amaya at the 51:41 mark.

It wasn’t long before the Bulldogs added to their lead.

Within two minutes after taking the lead, sophomore Lewis Rathbone struck again to give Concordia a 2-0 lead.

Even with a 2-0 lead, the Bulldogs weren’t done yet.

In the 61st minute, Amaya found the back of the net for his second goal of the game, giving Concordia a comfortable 3-0 lead.

The Bulldogs outshot the Mustangs 16-7 and put seven of those on goal compared to only one for Morningside.

Concordia will play next against Nebraska Wesleyan (7-4, 1-3 GPAC) at home at 8 p.m. on Oct. 14.
