Current Student Senate President Quinlan Hendrickson gave his final address to Senate representatives at Tuesday’s meeting and encouraged them to acknowledge their accomplishments over the last academic year.

Hendrickson said the Senate’s goal at the start of the 2025-2026 school year was to build itself and clubs back to their pre-COVID levels, and he said they succeeded.

“When I came in as president this year, we had one major goal, which was to promote Student Senate because, although it may seem like it was a long time ago, COVID kind of destroyed both Student Senate and a lot of the clubs on campus,” said Hendrickson.

As Senate participation grew, communication with Concordia staff and administration increased, Hendrickson said.

“All of these things with Senate specifically have been getting bigger and bigger, and that’s really helpful as we meet with [Chief Operating Officer] Kim Boyce, with President Bull, with Anna [Stumpf] in SLO, with Morganne [Schreiner], our CFO. All of those people, important people in leadership positions on campus, are now a lot more in contact with us in Senate,” he said.

Participation in the Student Senate’s weekly meetings also increased this year, Hendrickson said. He saw higher meeting attendance as well as student involvement in committees, especially the budget committee that allocated the 2026-2027 Senate budget of $77,720 to official campus clubs.

Hendrickson noted that new clubs were created and approved by the Senate this year, and he said that clubs hosted more activities and promoted them through posters, emails from the Student Life Office, and Padlet, Concordia’s new digital bulletin board.

“There are now so many more outlets for clubs, and we are actually seeing more clubs being created because of that,” he said. Hendrickson said he expects to see students create more clubs on campus in the coming years.

“We are basically recovered from COVID now and we’re in the full swing of more activities, and that’s what you guys have been doing the past year,” said Hendrickson.

Hendrickson then swore in the 2026-2027 Student Senate officers, who will replace the four graduating seniors in this year’s Senate leadership.

The 2026-2027 officers are President Aidan McKinnon; Vice President Naa Kordai Addy; Treasurer Jenna Schafer; and Secretary Mi-Ree Zwick.
