Concordia’s women’s basketball team stormed to victory in the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals with a 111-70 win against Briar Cliff on Wednesday.

Concordia shot to an elite level, being 59.1 percent from the field and 59.4 percent from three-point range. They also recorded 26 assists on 39 made field goals, reflecting consistent ball movement across the team.

The Bulldogs set the tone early by scoring 34 points in the first quarter and built a 62-33 lead by halftime. The Bulldogs were able to maintain control throughout the game by outscoring Briar Cliff almost every quarter.

Junior Raelyn Kelty led the Bulldogs with 23 points, shooting 8-11 from the field and 7-9 from three-point range, while adding eight rebounds. Freshman Ayla Roth contributed 16 points, along with Junior Sammy Leu, having 12 points after going 4-5 from three-point range.

Senior Kristin Vieselmeyer finished the night with 11 points and four assists, while Junior Juliana Jones scored 10 points off the bench.

Coach Drew Olson was proud of how well the team performed during this quarterfinal matchup.

“I thought we were really connected on both ends. We shared the ball, defended with a purpose, and stayed disciplined, which helped build a lead.”

With the win, Concordia advances to the semifinals in the GPAC tournament. They will be on the road to take on Dordt University on Saturday, Feb. 28.
