by Chris Johnstone

No. 14 nationally-ranked Concordia women’s basketball team faced the Friends University Falcons in the opening game of the Cattle Classic and won 95-59 on Friday night.

Senior forward Aubri Bro had a team high of 14 points in 16 minutes on the night, shooting 5-7 from the field and 4-6 three-point shooting.

“I attributed to last nights game by hitting the open shots and getting great passes from my teammates” said Bro.

Junior guard Brenleigh Daum followed up with 12 points.  Junior guards Mary Janovich and Dani Andersen each added 10.

As a team, Concordia made 15 threes, shooting almost 47% from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs also had 12 steals, coming from the Falcon’s 24 turnovers.

“Forcing turnovers and getting steals (gave) us more momentum as the game progressed and allowed us to run the floor, which is what our team loves to do” said Bro. “We definitely were able to do that last night”.

The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround and return to Walz Arena against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 3 p.m. to round out the Cattle Classic. Concordia students are encouraged to bring 2 cans of food to stock the Blue Valley Community Action’s Food Pantry.
