by Jacy Johnston

The Concordia women’s soccer team broke a five-game winning streak with a 2-1 road loss to Bellevue University in Omaha on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

After an even start to the game, Bellevue took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute. In the first half, both teams had eight shots.  However, the Bulldogs had a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks in the first half.

After the break, Concordia looked to tie up the game. Freshman Rachael Bolin completed this task in the 50th minute of the game. Bellevue quickly answered with a second goal during the second half to gain a 2-1 advantage over Concordia. The Bulldogs were unable to answer in the final minutes of the game.

Both Bolin and sophomore Maria Deeter had four shots in the game. Concordia outshot Bellevue 20-18 on the game.

Concordia now stands at 4-2-1 on the year, having played no conference games yet.

The team will continue its season with a home matchup on Saturday Sept. 17 against Bethany College in Kansas. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.
