The Concordia women’s soccer team continued to add firsts to their program history list by defeating No. 16 Bellevue in the first ever top 25 matchup at home on Saturday Aug. 29.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the young season as they edged Bruins 2-1.

Concordia played catch-up from early on as they allowed the first goal of the contest in the ninth minute.

However, the Bulldogs quickly responded after the Bruins goalie. Bailey Petzoldt of the Bruins couldn’t hold onto a save and freshman Kaylee Brown tapped in her first career goal for Concordia in the eighteenth minute.

As the game progressed it looked as if a draw was inevitable until late in the match.

Sophomore Esther Soenksen fired her third goal of the season in the 76th minute to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage and ultimately the win.

Sophomore Jessica Skerston assisted on Soenksen’s go ahead goal.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for their next match on September 1st at York College (0-2). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
