The Concordia Bulldogs wrestling team opened up their regular season duals at home with a bang against the Northwestern Red Raiders, beating them 29-10.

The Bulldogs came into the regular season ranked 18 by the preseason poll released in October and reigning co-regular season GPAC champions alongside Morningside College. The Bulldogs wasted no time showing they belonged as a conference contender by winning seven of their ten matches of the night.

All six ranked Bulldogs came out with wins on the night, highlighted by sophomore Michael Stann pinning Northwestern’s Skyler Bonestroo at the 47.8 second mark of the first round of the 285 pound matchup. Other ranked Bulldogs with wins were senior Chris Kimball (141 lb), senior Zach Moistner (133 lb), sophomore Mario Ybarra (125 lb), sophomore Gad Huseman (149 lb), and senior Deandre Chery (174 lb).

Senior Gabriel Crawford won the seventh match in the 157 weight class against Blake Pomajzi by a score of 11-8.

The Bulldogs will go on the road to take their talents to the University of Nebraska, Kearney Open next Saturday.
