Ben and Angie Boldt, Concordia’s new volleyball coaches, are thrilled to be coming back to Nebraska, their home state.

Ben Boldt is from Hickman, Nebraska, and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL). Angie Boldt is from St. Paul, Nebraska, and also attended UNL, where she met Ben.

Concordia was attractive to Angie and I because it gave us the opportunity to coach the sport we love in our home state, head volleyball coach Ben Boldt said. The support we have received from the administration, staff and players has been very helpful in our transition. Its the people you work with that make the difference.

Ben Boldt was announced as the head coach just before the end of 2017, and he immediately named his wife, Angie, as the assistant coach. Assistant Coach Abby Pollart and Graduate Assistant Abby Saehler will both remain on coaching staff from last year.

“On campus, you can definitely tell that there is a new buzz and excitement about volleyball, junior right-side hitter Jenna Habegger said. I am so excited for this off-season and all the work that we will put in with Ben and Angie.

The new coaches have already been at work, beginning to lay the foundation that they want for the team. Coach Ben Boldts philosophy includes striving to win the serve and pass game in addition to winning the battle at the net.

“We want to play fast, physical volleyball. Statistically, the teams that attack and block at a higher level win the match,  Ben Boldt said.  “There is a lot that goes into that, but we want to embrace the mentality to Be the Woman at the net.

Ben and Angie Boldt both come to Concordia with a wide variety of experience. Most recently they coached together at Hendrix College, which is NCAA Division III. The Boldts officially began their coaching duties at Concordia on on Jan. 8, 2018, and have been hard at work ever since .

We want to put a product on the floor that fans want to see, Ben Boldt said. “I view our team as a part of this community, so the support we receive from fans is extremely important in helping this team grow. Im fired up to be a part of the Bulldog Nation!
