The Concordia women’s tennis team was defeated 7-2 by Bethel College on Friday afternoon in Walz Arena.

The Bulldogs’ (1-8) two wins in the match came from sophomore Annie Horn and freshman Hailey Lemos in singles play.

Horn filled the No. 1 position and defeated Bethel’s Kimberly Buzbee in straight sets 6-4 and 6-1.

Lemos competed for the first time this year and filled the No. 4 position for Concordia. Lemos defeated Serena Wong 8-5.

Other close singles matches were in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. Freshmen Kayla Smock and Elizabeth Phillips filled the fifth and sixth spots respectively. Smock lost 7-5 and 11-9, while Phillips lost in three sets 6-2, 2-6 and 10-6.

The Bulldogs will be back in action at 2 p.m. on March 9 when they take on Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kansas.
