Home Sports Bulldogs Continue Winning Streak Against Briar Cliff

by Jordan McCoy

On the night of Wednesday, Jan. 4, Concordia did not skip a beat after returning from their victorious road trip in Miami, as they beat the previous GPAC champions, the Briar Cliff University Chargers, 87-79 in Walz Arena.

After this win, the Bulldogs improved their overall record to 10-6.

The dynamic duo of seniors Chandler Folkerts and Eli Ziegler scored a combined 50 out of the Bulldogs’ 87 points against the Chargers. Folkerts added 29 points, while Ziegler scored 21.

Folkerts just recently surpassed Concordia’s Athletic Director Devin Smith and is now fourth on the all-time scoring list. Ziegler, who is known for his clutch three-pointers, is likely one game away from being the 29th Bulldog to join the 1,000 career point club.

Freshman guard/forward Tanner Shuck scored 11 points in Wednesday’s game. Coming off the bench to make a difference in the game were freshman forward Clay Reimers and senior center Justin Damme. Each contributed nine points to the Bulldogs’ victory.

On Friday, Jan. 6 the Bulldogs will face Dordt College for another GPAC matchup. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.  After they return from Sioux Center, Iowa, they will then host Oglala Lakota College for a non-conference match on the following day, which will tipoff at 4:30.
