Home Sports Bulldogs Dominate in Home Track Meet

Saturday proved to be a successful day for the Concordia men’s and women’s track and field teams as the Bulldogs had 11 event winners.

On the women’s side senior, Kim Wood continued her impressive year by winning the 800-meter and 1,500-meter run. Wood earned an automatic national qualifying time in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:38.12.

Senior Liz King claimed first place honors in the javelin throw with a heave of 41.65 meters, winning by almost 5 meters.

The highlight of the day for the men’s team was senior Joshua Slechta, who broke the school record for hammer throw with a throw of 64.27 meters

Junior Lucas Wiechman won the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault. Senior Trevor Bresson won the 400-meter run by over two seconds while junior teammate Chris Shelton won the 3,000-meter run by over 7 seconds. The men’s 4×400 meter relay team beat eight other teams to claim first place with a time of 3:21.28, bettering second place Doane College, who finished with a time of 3:22.95.

The men’s team was also presented with the championship rings that the team earned for winning the national championship last year.

The Concordia track teams will travel to Kearney on Saturday, April 16 for the University of Nebraska-Kearney Loper Invite.
