Home Sports Bulldogs Go 2-2 in Hastings

The Concordia volleyball team traveled to Hastings to compete in the Five Points Bank Invitational on Sept. 11-12 and split four games to move to 11-3 overall.
On Friday, Sept. 11 the Bulldogs started their day off against MidAmerica Nazarene University(Kansas). Concordia was unable to overcome the Pioneers, as the Pioneers won in straight sets 27-25, 25-22 and 27-25.
However, the Bulldogs rebounded in their nightcap as they took care of Montana Western University in straight sets 25-16, 25-20 and 25-20. Concordia outhit Montana Western .212 to .070 in the match.
After splitting a pair of games on Friday, the Bulldogs returned to the court on Saturday, Sept. 12 and took on Carroll College (Mont.) in their first game. The Bulldogs were unable to oust the Fighting Saints in the competitive match. Concordia lost in straight sets 23-25, 29-31 and 22-25.
After dropping the first game of the day on Saturday, the Bulldogs closed out their road trip to Hastings with a match against No. 20 Montana Tech. Concordia outplayed the Diggers in five sets 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, 24-26 and 15-12 to capture the victory.
In the match, Concordia’s middle hitter sophomore Annie Friesen set a new personal record with 17 kills. Along with Friesen’s record day, senior Claire White and juniors Taylor Workman and Tiegen Skains also recorded double digit kills with 15, 14 and 12 respectively.
The Bulldogs will take the court next against Doane on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.
