In a tightly contested Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup, the Concordia University Nebraska women’s soccer team secured a 1-0 road victory over Dakota Wesleyan.
Senior Elena Ruiz scored the game’s only goal in the 69th minute, giving the Bulldogs the edge they needed to claim the win. Concordia controlled much of the action, outshooting Dakota Wesleyan 18-9 and keeping consistent pressure on their defense.
Senior Kierstynn Garner led the Bulldogs with nine shots, five of which led to saves from the Dakota Wesleyan goalkeeper.
Despite controlling much of the game, Concordia’s goalkeeper, sophomore Aliya Vidro, stayed vigilant and saved the one on-target shot from Dakota Wesleyan.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 11-1-4 overall and 6-1-2 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. Concordia will return home to face Dordt on Oct. 25.
