Home Sports Concordia Baseball Blasts Braves in Sunday Sweep

The Concordia baseball team had no problems on Sunday as the Bulldogs defeated the Ottawa Braves 17-7 and 19-2.

With the pair of wins on Sunday, the Bulldogs (5-7) took three of four games from the Braves on the weekend.

In game one, Concordia’s starting pitcher sophomore Taylor Bickel went five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits.

Concordia manufactured 17 runs on 23 hits. Junior Christian Montero and sophomore Kaleb Geiger led offensive attack with a combined nine hits and five RBIs.

In the series finale, the Bulldogs continued to rack up the runs. After going scoreless through three innings, Concordia plated 17 runs in the fourth through sixth innings. Geiger continued to see the ball well and tallied three hits and plated four RBIs. Starting pitcher Neil Ryan went 5.2 innings and gave up one earned run on four hits.

The Bulldogs will have a week off before traveling to Tucson, Arizona, for a total of 10 games. Concordia will take on the following opponents from March 5-11: William Penn University, University of Jamestown, Missouri Valley College, University of Winnipeg, Olivet Nazarene University, Waldorf College and Dakota State.
