by Matthew Goedeken

Concordia’s baseball team hosted Dakota Wesleyan in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 2 and split with the Tigers 0-3 and 11-10.

Senior Mark Harris pitched all seven innings in the first game, allowing five hits and striking out seven batters.

“I thought Mark Harris was awesome in the first game,” coach Ryan Dupic said.

Despite Harris’ performance, the Bulldogs lost to Dakota Wesleyan 0-3.

In the second game, the Bulldogs were down by six runs going into the bottom of the eighth inning, but they scored eight runs in the eighth to take the lead 10-8. Senior Taylor Dudley pinch hit for an RBI. Junior Christian Montero knocked in two more runs, and junior Casey Berg batted in a run.

In the top of the ninth inning, freshman Josue Melchor came in to pitch and struck two batters out. The Tigers were able to tie up the score at 10 apiece.

The second game concluded when Meza drove in the game-winning RBI with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Concordia the 11-10 win.

This was the first of many GPAC games for the Bulldogs this season.

“I think that the GPAC is just going to be a crazy year,” Dupic said. “It’s one of those things that you can’t ever take things out, and you never exactly know what is going to happen you got to kind of stay with stuff a little bit.”

The Bulldogs will play Briar Cliff on Sunday, April 3 in another doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
