Home Sports Concordia Men’s Basketball Drops to Johnson & Wales in Colorado Matchup

The Concordia men’s basketball team lost a tough battle, 81-82, against Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Bulldogs were coming off of a season opening win against Dickinson State on their Halloween weekend trip to Denver just two days prior.

The two teams were neck and neck for most of the game, with Concordia scoring 43 points in the first period to Johnson & Wales’ 45. The second period was even closer, with the Bulldogs scoring 38 points to 37 from Johnson & Wales.

Concordia led the game 81-80 with 28 seconds left on the clock, but a field goal at the eight second mark by Johnson & Wales player Andrew Romero III won the game.

Senior guard Eli Ziegler led the team with 13 field goal attempts, six of which were made, and four 3-point baskets. Senior center Chandler Folkerts also added a notable six successful field goals out of six attempts, and made seven free throws out of nine attempts,

The Bulldogs will move on to hosting the Cattle Classic Tournament, which will be held in the Walz arena. They will face Waldorf College on Nov. 4.
