The Concordia men’s soccer team took care of business and won 3-0 against the Briar Cliff Chargers on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The win improves the Bulldogs record to 7-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in GPAC.

Concordia was the aggressor as the team kicked a total of 27 shots and put 14 on goal.

The Bulldogs struck first when freshman Tyler Jensen found the back of the net in the 30th minute to give Concordia a 1-0 lead.

Neither team could get any goals for the rest of the first half despite 24 shots put up and 11 on goal by both teams combined.

Midway through the second half, the Bulldogs scored again as sophomore Micah Lehenbauer scored off an assist from sophomore Lewis Rathbone.

Concordia’s coach Jason Weides considered Lehenbauer’s goal huge in such a tight and physical game.

“The second goal really helped give us a little bit more of a cushion, not really breathing room, but more of a cushion to make it harder for Briar Cliff to get back into the game,” Weides said.

Late in the match, senior Julian Amaya sealed the deal for the Bulldogs by tacking on another goal to give Concordia its third goal of the night.

Concordia’s goalie junior Mark Horsburgh made six saves and recorded another shutout for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will take the road tomorrow night as they play a makeup game with Hastings College at Hastings at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18.
